The Levens '10'

Eileen and Dave write....

The September 10 that we have been running since 2005 on the popular Levens course always attracts
good numbers. This year, however, it was even more popular - We had 305 entries (plus 10 trikes in
George Jackson's event which we took under our wing) = 315 names on the start sheet.
I'm told that, apart from the National 10 & 25 & the GB TT championship, this was the biggest field in 2009
! Thanks (and congratulations) to all who helped out.

We have had some nice comments from the riders :-

1) From Robin Brennan (Preston CC)
Hi Eileen, Dave,
just wanted to say a huge thanks to you all for organising a top event. I'm sure it was a marathon event
for you, but as always everything ran so smoothly, including the conditions!
So thanks to you and all your team of helpers, marshalls, timekeepers and all involved for making the event
such a success.
Last event tomorrow for me, then some well earned rest!
hope to see you all next year, Robin

2) From Andy Rubio (Manchester Whs)
Hi Eileen,
Thanks very much for organising such an enjoyable event. I appreciate that I was able to ride as a reserver
and it was well worth it - according to my computer I got a PB!
Kind regards, Andy

3) From Mark Baxandall (Westmead Team 88)
Dear Eileen,
Thank you very much for organising tt and finding me a spot. Improved pb by over 2 minutes and had a
lovely day.
Many thanks, Mark

4) From Mark Prossor & Gill Craske (N L ancs RC, Tandem)
Eileen /Dave
Thank you so much for running the event yesterday. It was fantastic to actually meet some other Tandem
Riders.
Please pass on our thanks to the marshalls and all the helpers who did so much on the day and especially
thanks to you both I don’t know how you managed to have the time to organise such a huge starting
sheet for one day let alone 2 days. (Ref April '10' )
I look forward to sending you our entries for the L101 and this event again next season.
Cheers, Tandem No 10 ,James Prossor ands Gill Craske

7) From Ben Lane & Dawn Sherrin (VC Azzurri)
Eileen,
Quick note to say thanks for organising the event on Saturday. Good effort to manage 3 big fields like
that. First time I have ridden Levens having heard about how quick it is. I managed to lop 31 secs off my
pb but did not quite dip into the 20's. There were some pretty fast rides up and Mark's 18'46 was pretty
special!
Thanks again - Dawn and I will look to come across again next season.
Ben and Dawn (VC Azzurri)

8) From Andrew Clarke (Mid Shropshire Whs)
Dear Eileen, Thanks for organising an amazing event. Great. I actually live in Jakarta, Indonesia and this
year made a comeback after 25 years out of the sport. I now ride for my old club the Mid Shropshire
Wheelers and raced for the first time in July this year during a four week visit and am now on my second
racing holiday.
I was delighted to do 21:37 in the main event and I think that I was the fasted V50 in that event. If so
then I wonder if I could request a medal or plaque rather than the £20 prize? If so then this could be
posted to my address on the entry form (my parents) who will keep it for me until my next visit next
season. A medal or a plaque will give me something to show my young children in JKT and will provide a
lasting memory for me of a great event espeecially if it mentions my name and time .
Once again many thanks to you and all the Wigan Whls team for running an excellent event.
Take care, Andrew

9) From Ann Nicholson & Neil Stirling (KentValley RC)
To both of you from both of us
Thanks for all your work in organising such a splendid event. I know Neil thanked Dave at the start but had
insufficient breath left to thank you at the finish Eileen. A very splendid day. Thanks to all marshalls,
timekeepers, pusher offs  and ' catering staff ' at the headquarters. X Ann Nicholson and Neil Stirling
